Hi Torben
Sorry for the late reply! Thanks for your responses.

3 & 4 - if you could provide details on how to do this, that would be great? And also 5 and 6 as well if you have time to implement those - we are getting very close to a system we can quite easily deploy with minimum staff training!

General / GUI/Layout Options

Hello again!

I'm pulling together a design for mAirList and have come across the following thoughts/stumbling blocks - things I think *may* be possible but I can't find them!

1 - Can the Cartwall, playlist etc be loaded *only* from the database window of the browser? We don't want presenters playing audio straight from harddrive as this is unapproved audio and the idea is they won't know how to add to database!

2 - What does 'LIVE' do on the streaming encoder? I can see that audio stops when it is unclicked - does it just control whether or not audio is sent to the encoder? If so, can it be set up to automatically come on from launch?

3 - Can the automation status of a playlist be indicated elsewhere apart from at the bottom of the playlist? I have two separate buttons for 'automation enable' and 'automation disable' and it would be nice, for instance, for 'automation enable' to be bold or highlighted if this is the case?

4 - Similarly, is it possible for a button to change some sort of GUI object somewhere to indicate it's been pressed? Automation break for instance. I want 'something' to happen when that is pressed (my own button for it) that will indicate the song will stop after it is played. Thinking aloud if you will, can a button be told to 'insert automation break point in the playlist after the currently playing item'

5 - Can a button be configured to launch the 'edit' (properties) window of the currently selected item in the playlist?

6 - Can a button be configured to launch the 'events' window?

I appreciate there are a few questions here but any help would be gratefully received! I am setting up mAirList for the easiest possible use and these things will help me achieve this and get mAirList controlling yet another FM radio station..!

Many thanks

Hi Cad,
The Drag/Drop solution is what I've used in the end - it's a suitable replacement! It's a shame we'll lose 1-click start of carts but perhaps we'll add a cartwall fader in the future/sacrifice player 4 for it.

Charlie - you're right!

Thanks both

I have done a bit of searching and can't seem to find that this has been discussed elsewhere so I thought I'd post about it!

We are in the process of ripping out a (very expensive) playout system that doesn't work for us and I've been trying to sell the benefits of mAirList as a replacement - however the client has asked a pretty good question that I can't seem to answer.

In the system we use, when you launch a cart from the cartwall, instead of playing on its own player it actually loads into one of the four 'main' players - usually player 4 (which is not used by automation) - and so it's very easy to see which of the 4 faders on the mixing desk the sound is coming from. This also means that you can't fire off too many carts - so you couldn't have 8 carts playing at the same time sounding awful over each other as there wouldn't be enough players to support this.

This method seems to make sense and I would like to adopt it if possible in whichever system we choose to use.

Is there some sort of way that the Cartwall in mAirList can be configured in this way? I.e. when you click the cart on the cartwall, it sends the 'loaded' cart to a specific player attached to a specified playlist rather than playing on its own? Would this be possible with commands maybe?

Happy new year to all!

We've had a Windows (2000) system running constantly now since 2002 - it's starting to show signs of wishing it was dead but it's definitely possible with the right settings and maintenance!

Scripts / Re: What's wrong with this script?

I did think that might be the case so I tried it and got 'Error executing action: [Error] (23:8): Assignment expected' - but I thought it was just me!

Same error on the latest script Cad.

Though its useful as a learning curve for me!!  ;D

I'm having a problem with the last one, Cad - 'Error executing action: [Error] (17:3): 'BEGIN' expected.

I think I know what this means but can't for the life of me work out where the problem lies!

Great! Many thanks - having read the details and digested them it makes sense now. Thanks for that.

Onwards & upwards! :-)

Scripts / What's wrong with this script?
« on: September 21, 2010, 00:27:52 »
I think there have been some changes since I last upgraded mAirList and am having an UNKNOWN IDENTIFIER: SAVE MMD error when running this script:

Code: [Select]
  i: integer;

  for i := 0 to CurrentPlaylist.GetCount - 1 do

I'm trying to save all files in the current playlist to MMD. Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

General / Re: mAirListDB - Read from MMD and save to DB?
« on: August 09, 2010, 09:20:25 »
HI all,
Thanks for your replies and sorry I haven't been able to reply before now.

I'm in a situation where my MMD files are actually more up-to-date than the data in the database so I wanted to know if there was a way to 're scan' the MMD files for all the tracks in the database and read the data from these, import them into the database and then use the database from there on in.

Failing this can somebody suggest the scripting alternative for SaveMMD to save to the database and I will adjust my script accordingly?

Many thanks

General / mAirListDB - Read from MMD and save to DB?

Hi all - long time no speak!

I'm still very much a mAirList user and have recently started experimenting with mAirListDB. Something I can't quite get my head around, though, is this - once you have loaded your tracks into the database, is there a way to manually 'force' mAirListDB to locate & read the MMD files for songs, and then save the data from those onto the database? I say this as I have item colours etc in MMD files and would like to carry them over without having to manually color each & every one again.

Have a look at the events scheduler - does it say 'load playlist' or 'load and play playlist'?

If it says load and play, you need to change it to load because the playlist is already in the 'playing' state.

Feature Requests / Get playlist to take note of 'Fixed Time'
« on: December 02, 2007, 22:04:30 »
Would it be possible for the 'fixed time' flag to *ACTUALLY* be used as a totally fixed time?

For instance - its fine at the moment but would it be possible so that the file *definitely* starts at that time? Because at the moment, if you run out of items in the playlist before that item, it will play out regardless of the fixed time state.

Feature Requests / Grey out items
« on: November 09, 2007, 13:30:21 »
Would it be possible to add a 'marked as played?' option in an item's properties and save this to MMD so that every time a file is loaded, it's automatically marked as played but can be recycled by the presenter? For example, I could put a news intro into the playlist as greyed out just in case the presenter doesn't show up and the news intro won't play out in automation because it hasn't been restored.

I can't seem to get this to work! Only mAirList loads.
